Presenter Rules & Guidelines

Thinking about pitching?
Check out our process, requirements, and some examples for Pitch-A-Friend Austin before you submit your request to pitch!

Pitch Sign Up Process:

  1. Submit your Request to Pitch. You must sign up to pitch in advance to present at any of our events. Slots are limited. Submitting our form does not automatically grant you a slot to present (see step 2 below).
  2. Confirm and Pay for your Spot. IF and when you are notified that you've been given a slot to pitch at a specific event, you will need to confirm your slot within 72 hours by sending your confirmation payment ($5 via Venmo; see instructions in email). This gesture demonstrates your commitment to presenting, and as a token of appreciation, you'll receive a complimentary drink at the event!

If we do not receive your confirmation payment within 72 hours, your slot will be given to someone else.
  3. Create and Submit Your Pitch. Send or share your presentation with us anytime before the event, ensuring it's received at least 48 hours prior to the start time. You will receive an email with specific instructions on how to deliver your presentation files.

Pitch Requirements:

  1. Keep it positive! This is NOT a roast. This event is to promote friends in a positive and fun way with the goal of helping them make a new connection!
  2. Keep it Clean. Please refrain from including nudity or inappropriate imagery.
  3. Keep it about them! Presentations are meant to be about the friends being pitched, not the presenters.
  4. Keep it under 3 minutes! Be imaginative, but your presentation must be no more than 3 minutes.
  5. Animations and Transitions. For technical reasons, we will not be able to show animations or transition effects on presentations. During the event, we will only be able to go from one slide to the next, and the transition will be instantaneous. (If you want an element to pop up / appear on a slide, then split it into two slides, the first without it and the second with it added.)
  6. Minimum Text Size. If you're using text on your slides, it must be very large so the people in the back of the venue can read it, too. Since font sizes vary from software program to software program, here's what the minimum font size allowed is depending on where you make your presentation: PowerPoint: 50, Apple Keynote: 105, Canva: 75, Google Slides: 38.
  7. Friend must be informed, consent, and be in attendance. The friend you are pitching must attend the event as well. They must also be aware, and consent, to being pitched.
  8. Keep out politics! This is meant to be lighthearted and fun!
  9. Notify us about changes in plans. We understand that things come up, and sometimes plans change. Since spots are limited for each event, we appreciate you letting us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel. This allows us to open your spot for another single to participate and give them enough time to prepare.
